Refugees' camps in Thailand are in very poor condition, and the refugees from Myanmar, who were driven out of their native homeland just because they are from minority groups, have to live in those ferocious camps. Sanitation is considered very "bourgeois" in the camps because nobody actually knows what it means and unfortunately there are more than 7 camps in Thailand's western border. Each camp is located conveniently near the Karen and Karenni States because that's where most of the refugees come from. The Refugees are confined within the camps' exact marks and nobody can go beyond the lines because they will be caught by the Thai police force and get tortured in a place no one knows. The refugees survive on the rations of food that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees provides each week. Food is distributed based on how many people are in the family, and because the food is scarce, people will line up very early before the distribution and get their share and close their doors because there is never enough food in the camps. There are competitions among the men that include: Burmese Traditional Boxing, Volleyball, Soccer, and Chinlone (Burmese Hacky sack) where they compete against each other for more food and sometimes for money. In the camps, Social Darwinism takes over because only the fittest can survive in those difficult and cruel situations. Above all the Thai government discriminate against these refugees, and they don't even want the refugees in their land but with the United Nation's authority they are forced to house the refugees for a number of years according to the contract. And that is where real hardships reside.
